A Note on Tolerant Testing with One-Sided Error
نویسنده
چکیده
A tolerant tester with one-sided error for a property is a tester that accepts every input that is close to the property, with probability 1, and rejects every input that is far from the property, with positive probability. In this note we show that such testers require a linear number of queries.

A Comparative Study of VHDL Implementation of FT-2D-cGA and FT-3D-cGA on Different Benchmarks (RESEARCH NOTE)
This paper presents the VHDL implementation of fault tolerant cellular genetic algorithm. The goal of paper is to harden the hardware implementation of the cGA against single error upset (SEU), when affecting the fitness registers in the target hardware. The proposed approach, consists of two phases; Error monitoring and error recovery. Using innovative connectivity between processing elements ...
متن کاملON THE POWER FUNCTION OF THE LRT AGAINST ONE-SIDED AND TWO-SIDED ALTERNATIVES IN BIVARIATE NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
This paper addresses the problem of testing simple hypotheses about the mean of a bivariate normal distribution with identity covariance matrix against restricted alternatives. The LRTs and their power functions for such types of hypotheses are derived. Furthermore, through some elementary calculus, it is shown that the power function of the LRT satisfies certain monotonicity and symmetry p...
متن کاملTesting a Point Null Hypothesis against One-Sided for Non Regular and Exponential Families: The Reconcilability Condition to P-values and Posterior Probability
In this paper, the reconcilability between the P-value and the posterior probability in testing a point null hypothesis against the one-sided hypothesis is considered. Two essential families, non regular and exponential family of distributions, are studied. It was shown in a non regular family of distributions; in some cases, it is possible to find a prior distribution function under which P-va...
متن کاملA note on one-sided tests with multiple endpoints.
Testing problems with multivariate one-sided alternative hypotheses are common in clinical trials with multiple endpoints. In the case of comparing two treatments, treatment 1 is often preferred if it is superior for at least one of the endpoints and not biologically inferior for the remaining endpoints. Bloch et al. (2001, Biometrics57, 1039-1047) propose an intersection-union test (IUT) for t...
متن کاملA Lower Bound for Nonadaptive, One-Sided Error Testing of Unateness of Boolean Functions over the Hypercube
A Boolean function f : {0, 1} 7→ {0, 1} is unate if, along each coordinate, the function is either nondecreasing or nonincreasing. In this note, we prove that any nonadaptive, one-sided error unateness tester must make Ω( d log d ) queries. This result improves upon the Ω( d log2 d ) lower bound for the same class of testers due to Chen et al. (STOC, 2017).
